Foreclosure filings in N.C. doubled in first half of 2007

Foreclosure filings in North Carolina nearly doubled during the first half of 2007 compared with the
same period a year ago, RealtyTrac.com reported yesterday.

The company, which specializes in foreclosure listings, reported 13,944 foreclosures in North Carolina during the first half of 2007.

The report found that there is a foreclosure for every 226 households in North Carolina.

Foreclosures nationally rose 58 percent in the first half of 2007 to 573.397 compared with a year ago. The report

also showed a foreclosure rate of one filing for every 134 U.S. households.
